Pruning: The Fern Podocarpus Column doesn't require much pruning, but it can be lightly trimmed to maintain its shape and size in late winter or early spring.

Fertilization: Apply a slow-release, balanced fertilizer once a year in early spring to promote healthy growth and foliage color.

Winter Protection: The Fern Podocarpus Column is hardy in zones 9-11, but in colder areas, it should be protected from frost and freezing temperatures by wrapping the tree with burlap or providing it with a protective cover.


When planting the Fern Podocarpus Column, it is important to select a location that receives full to partial sunlight and has well-draining soil. If planting in a pot, choose a container that is at least 2-3 times the size of the plant's root ball and has drainage holes. Use a high-quality potting mix that is specifically formulated for container plants, and ensure that the soil is kept consistently moist but not waterlogged. Once established, it is moderately drought-tolerant and can tolerate occasional periods of dry soil. It is important to avoid overwatering, as the plant is susceptible to root rot in waterlogged soil.
