Pruning: Best pruned in late winter or early spring. Remove older stems to encourage new growth and maintain desired shape.

Fertilization: Apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in the spring.

Winter Protection: In colder regions of its growing zone, mulch the base to protect the roots from extreme temperatures.

Choose a location that gets adequate sunlight and has well-draining soil. Dig a hole twice as wide and as deep as the root ball. Place the plant in the hole ensuring it's level with the ground. Backfill the hole with soil, patting down gently to remove air pockets. Water the plant thoroughly after planting. Apply a layer of mulch around the plant to retain moisture and prevent weeds.

The Southern Wax Myrtle (Morella cerifera) is adaptable to a variety of sunlight conditions, flourishing in both full sun and partial shade. In areas with intense sun, consistent watering is essential to support its health, while in partial shade, the plant enjoys protection from the midday heat. It's crucial to keep the soil moderately moist, especially during the first year of planting, with deep watering sessions once a week or more frequently during hotter, drier periods. This balance of sunlight and water ensures the myrtle's robust growth and longevity.
